Pround Papa Prakash Javdekar sat in the first row of the Mavlankar auditorium of Constitution Club as his son, Dr. Prakash treated the packed audience with beautifully woven story of western music that, to many who are not familiar with it, means only defeaning noise.

For Delhiites- the Marathis- this was something unusual as they are used to watching proud politician fathers watching their sons readying to step in their shoes as politicians. Here he was, Dr.Ashutosh, performing before an august audience that comprised Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan not anything about politics but music. The audience applauded appreciatively as the junior Javdekar sang, showed video clips and narrated how the western music is what it is!.

The occasion was Maharashtra Day celebrations organised by New Delhi's Sarvajanik Utsav Samiti. Dr.Javdekar has aptly named his now hugely ppular programme 'Lai Paschima'. Supported by video clips, he explained to the audience what is Rock, op, Jaz, Hip Hop etc. etc.

The Samiti has for the last over four decades been organising programmes that the Marathi Manoos in Dehi misses so much. Marathi theatre, singers and so on.

Dr.Ashutosh Javdekar's Lai Sangit ws followed by Natya Sangeet programme by Balgandharva Sangit Rasik Mandal, Pune with veteran classical singer Bakul Pandit rendering popular songs from the plays wherein Balgandharva acted and sang when he played female roles.
