Names differ- from Sahyadri Club to Saoji Katta to DilliVidrbha Elgar... Marathi group etc etc. and there is the usual exchange of jokes that no one knows originate where but are recycled furiously each being touted as the 'latest' and 'new in market'.

WhatAp, however, has done what years of efforts by a few in Delhi could not. Bring Maharashtrians together at least on the digital media.

Enterprising professor at the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (popularly known as JNU) Prof.Manish Dabhade actually managed a crowd of over 200 earlier this year at the swanky Maharashtra Sadan (new) to celebrate Gudi (Gudhi?)  Padva. (A separate article on the same is already on the website elsewhere.)

Could be because of the networking site- 'Court' , the award winning Marathi film was 'housefull' although it was a ticketed screening as word spread through WhatsAp. Manish Dabhade's Maharashtra Development and Promotion Centre is comparatively knew but the older platform, R M Hejib's Sanskutik Samiti hosted two Marathi plays at Rangayan. To surprise of the Samiti, quite a few people turned up to witness the plays... keep it up Marathis on Delhi!!!!
